Zebulon Man Charged With Six Counts of Attempted Murder After Gunfire Strikes Wilson Home
WILSON, NC — A 21-year-old Zebulon man faces six counts of attempted first-degree murder following an exchange of gunfire that left an occupied home struck by a bullet in Wilson’s Whitehall subdivision.

Jaydin Dashon Richardson, of Golden Plum Lane in Zebulon, was arrested Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in Spring Hope with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.
Richardson is charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of discharging a firearm into occupied property, according to Wilson Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Eric McInerny.
Gunfire Erupts in Whitehall Subdivision
The incident began around 12:19 a.m. on October 18, when Wilson police responded to a reported breaking and entering in the 3500 block of Whetstone Place.
While officers were being dispatched, authorities received another call reporting gunfire on nearby Inkberry Circle.
Investigators determined the two calls were connected and that no breaking and entering had occurred.
Police identified Richardson and Elgin T. Jackson, 66, of Wilson, as the individuals involved.
According to investigators, Richardson traveled to Jackson’s residence and fired multiple rounds from the roadway toward the home, striking the house once.
Six people were inside the residence when the gunfire occurred.
Jackson reportedly returned fire from his front porch, firing two rounds toward Richardson, who fled before officers arrived.
Homeowner’s Charges Dismissed
During the investigation, detectives interviewed Jackson and seized several firearms from him.
Jackson initially received citations for two counts of discharging a firearm within city limits.
However, after consultation with the Wilson County District Attorney’s Office, authorities dismissed the charges against Jackson.
Investigators subsequently obtained warrants charging Richardson with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into occupied property.
Suspect Arrested After Nine-Day Search
Richardson remained at large until October 27, when authorities located and arrested him in Spring Hope.
He was transported to the Wilson County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond, according to police.
Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident and have not publicly disclosed what prompted the confrontation.
Richardson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
