Preview: North Carolina Central vs. Florida A&M

After North Carolina Central came from behind to take the win over the South Carolina State Bulldogs 33-28 last Thursday at O’ Kelly-Riddick Stadium, they have had a short week to recover and get prepared for this week as they prepare for their trip to Tallahassee, Florida to take on the the Florida A&M Rattlers.

The Eagles of North Carolina Central University had an exciting game Thursday that left the crowd amazed with the fight the players displayed for the entire contest. This has definitely been the theme for this year’s team is that they are a squad of fighters.

The defense started off last week’s game with a interception that was returned all the way to the end zone for a touchdown. Also NCCU’s switch up with quarterbacks got the crowds momentum up as freshman Chauncey Caldwell continued to produce touchdowns after replacing an injured Micah Zanders.

The Rattlers have had an exciting week Saturday as they captured their first win in a conference opener since 2012 against the Savannah State Tigers. Although it was a very slow game, FAMU’s defense was a force to be reckoned with as they open the game with an interception off a Savannah State pass.

Pretty much a tit for tat game the two teams continuously kept the score tied with great passes that gave Rattlers a total of 335 yards.

The game was tit for tat the entire way, but the Rattlers pulled through with a win of 20-14. FAMU had a great passing attack against Savannah St., totaling 335 passing yards.

In last year’s matchup with FAMU, North Carolina Central was very slow but we can tell this year that the Eagles sure do know how to keep the energy up and the crowd anticipating something spectacular!

This will be the first true road game for Coach Jerry Mack and the Eagles. The visitors will enter Thursday without having a loss in conference play in the past two seasons. Look for the Eagles to defend their undefeated conference streak Thursday night on ESPNU at 7:30 pm.
