RAW Raleigh Selects Gia Wilkerson To Showcase At The Ritz


Raleigh, NC – Aura Galleria proprietor Gia Wilkerson has been selected to showcase her G-Factor, her hair artistry and mastery, at an upcoming event designed to present local artists to a local, national, and international community.

GiaRAW Raleigh will present Gia Wilkerson and other artists at Envision RAW on Thursday Feb. 22nd at The Ritz. RAW showcases indie talent in visual art, film, fashion design, music, performance art, hair and makeup artistry, and photography.

RAW is an international independent arts organization with a mission to provide independent artists within the first 10 years of their creative career with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity. RAW ventures to provide the platform for these artists to be seen, heard, and loved.  RAW currently operates in over 60 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada and the UK.

Every other month, RAW Directors in cities across the world, including Raleigh NC, handpick and spotlight local artistic talent through local eclectic RAW events. With artists from all genres in each showcase, RAW events come together to form an amazing one-night circus of creativity.

At RAW Raleigh Showcase on Feb. 22 at The Ritz you’ll experience an independent film screening (usually a short, webisode or music video), a pop-up gallery featuring several independent visual artists and photographers, fashion shows from up-and-coming local designers, live musical performances, vendor booths featuring local artisans and accessories designers, and live performance art. About Gia Peebles

Gia Peebles is a master stylist and savvy entrepreneur with over a decade of experience. She is the proprietor and stylist at Aura Salon and Boutique, a full-service salon and day spa located in Durham, NC.  With a charming personality, remarkable smile and the ability to multitask, Gia has become a master in the cosmetology industry – styling an array of prominent women and men in business and entertainment, in addition to her existing and growing clientele. 

Highly sought after to style for professional photo shoots, editorials, and fashion segments, Gia is quickly becoming an industry leader and a household name. (Home of Design Essentials); and recently styled Shane Ingram, chef and co-owner of Four Square Restaurant for a live cooking demo during “Triangle Restaurant Week” (Aired on WRAL). Regular celebrity clients include recording artist, Sunshine Anderson; Jazz Vocalist Adia Ledbetter, National Recording Artist Yolanda Rabun, Talk Show host and Attorney at Law Ms. Star Jones and more.

Phyllis Coley
Phyllis D. Coley is CEO/Publisher of Spectacular Magazine and Host of Spectacular Magazine Radio Show. With a B.A. in English from NCCU, the Durham native began her professional career as Promotions/Marketing Director for New York City’s WKTU-FM. While at the radio station, Coley discovered the rap group Kid ‘n Play and managed them for five years, guiding their music and movie careers to success. Moving back to Durham, Coley produced a nationally syndicated television show, The Electric Factory, while working as News Director for FOXY 107/104. In April 2002, recognizing a void in highlighting the achievements of African Americans, she started her own business publishing ACE Magazine. Coley launched Spectacular Magazine in November 2004. Recognizing the lack of pertinent and truthful information, Coley began Spectacular Magazine Radio Show in March 2009. Coley is the organizer of Durham's Annual MLK/Black History Month Parade and the Annual North Carolina Juneteenth Celebration. She currently serves on Central Children’s Home Board of Directors, Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Advisors, as Immediate Past Secretary of the Durham Rotary Club Board of Directors and is one of the founding members of the Triangle United Way’s African American Leadership Initiative.
