“Imagine a Day Without Water” Video Challenge for Teens in Durham

Durham, NC – The City of Durham Department of Water Management is inviting local students to use their imaginations to create videos highlighting the value of water, and what daily life might look like without it.

The video challenge is part of the City’s participation in the annual “Imagine a Day Without Water” on Wednesday, October 10. Four Visa gift card prizes totaling $500 will be awarded – $100 each for “Funniest,” “Most Creative,” and “Best Production Value;” and one $200 grand prize award for the best overall video. Video entries of up to 60 seconds in length will be accepted, and will be reviewed and voted on by an “Imagine a Day Without Water 2018 Video Challenge” judging committee selected by Water Management. The contest is open to all Durham residents ages 13 to 18. Individuals or teams are allowed to submit one video. Prizes for teams will be divided among team members. Winning videos will be featured on City of Durham social media and on Durham Television Network.

Organized by the Value of Water Coalition, Imagine a Day Without Water is a national event that helps raise awareness about the importance of safe and reliable water; the crucial need for investment in America’s water systems; and the critical infrastructure that brings it to and from our homes, schools, and businesses. All Durham residents are encouraged to pledge to reduce their water usage or refrain from one water-using activity on October 10, and share their participation on social media using the hashtags #ImagineADayWithoutWater and #ValueWater.
