The Life of A Millennial: Finding That Life Work Balance

We all have a dream that we ultimately want to fulfill in our life. We’re willing to make any necessary sacrifice in order to reach this goal and make our dreams come true. Some people even sacrifice their HAPPINESS, in order to have happiness at a later time. Why should you have to compromise your sanity now, for “success” later? It seems like this has become the norm, and people struggle to find work life balance…especially millennials.

With the role that social media plays in this day, it’s not surprising that people are influenced by what they see on a day to day basis. We are so connected to other people’s lives that we begin to compare our journeys with the lives of others. Working a job to meet your financial needs and investing in yourself is OK. Everyone can’t be a business owner, just like everyone can’t be a worker. We have to accept our journeys and trust that it’ll all unfold for our better good. So start by accepting your circumstance. Yes, you have to work hard and play later. If we wake up, dreading our jobs and daily tasks, how can we expect any good to come from it? Enjoying the process is the first step to balance.

Finding a hobby is essential to your everyday work life balance. Physically, your mental can’t handle solely focusing on work 24/7. Having an outlet, a way to express yourself, or something that makes you happy is important. Feeding your soul makes the flow of life easier to maintain. Writing is my happy place. Others may enjoy reading, dancing, acting or designing. Either way, it’s important that we make time for ourselves. Start by investing energy into yourself first, then distribute what’s left to all of your obligations.

Lastly, find a way to stay organized. Majority of millennials are not focused on organization. It’s kind of like we’re this free thinking generation where organization isn’t really a top priority. We all carry smart phones that have calendars, alarms and reminders. Utilize your resources! Keep track of your finances and make monthly goals. Hold yourself accountable. Finding a balance starts with you first and you have to take the initiative to feed your mental. Working while following your dreams will either make or break you! That’s the Life of a Millennial…
