Still Moon Whiskey: HBCU Alumni Owned Liquor Company Is Making ‘Sophisticated Sipping Shine’
We all love a good tasting cocktail, especially with friends and family during the holiday season! Still Moon was founded in 2014 by six co-owners named Gale Frasier Cox (Marketing), Ponce Tidwell Jr. (Counsel), Gary Duncan (Mixologist), Shon Yancey (President), Ralph Frasier (Counsel) and Kelvin Bratcher (Counsel). All North Carolina natives, the six co-owners attended NC A&T State University in Greensboro and met during their undergraduate years.
Spectacular Magazine had the pleasure of speaking with Kelvin Bratcher, as he gives us a brief history on how Still Moon came about.
“Gary Duncan’s grandfather was the sole owner of this unique recipe for moonshine. We were always in the moonshine business but not necessarily the right way. We had success from a social standpoint where others craved the product and gave great feedback. So, my Phi Beta Sigma fraternity brothers and our families took the recipe and reinvented it. We questioned ourselves asking “If we sold moonshine today what would it look like”? We decided to come up with something that will be anywhere in the country and fit today’s market and demographic. It was important that we created a bottle that looked premium. Instead of mason jar, very distinguished. All in all, we wanted to create a VISUAL for how it will taste and feel.”
Bratcher goes on to say that the whiskey is 100% organic and 100% corn. A lot of other brands are not 100% corn, they usually have other things mixed in with it.
Still Moon Whiskey manufactures and ships from North Carolina, Texas and Indiana. This company is doing a stellar job at closely connecting with customers in the local area.
