[Review] ‘Mean Girls’ At DPAC: Truly Amazing, Worth Seeing Over & Over!

DURHAM, NC – It was opening night with a full house of people in attendance Wednesday, February 12th as Broadway’s musical hit ‘Mean Girls’ opened at Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC).  The play itself was amazing…it put a modern twist on the story and adapted it to the present day which made the storyline even more wonderful. However, some of the language is inappropriate for children under the age of 13, but on the other hand, for the adults, it was hilarious.

The play was all about a girl that wants to just fit in and be apart of a group to gain friends, yet she realizes how critical and judgemental high school girls really are. The orchestra was spot on when it came to the songs that they created (some of which were very catchy), and the dancers made a tremendously impressive, without any faults.

The main characters did a fantastic job playing their roles. The part of Cady Heron was played wonderfully by Danielle Wade, Regina George was played by Mariah Rose Faith, Gretchen Wieners was played by Megan Masako Haley, Karen Smith was played Jonalyn Saxer; Damian Hubbard was played by Eric Huffman, and finally Janis Sarkisian was played by English Bernhardt.

I definitely enjoyed the total production; it was truly amazing, and worth the price to go back and see it over and over again. “Mean Girls” will still be at the DPAC through February 16th. Please go and support this wonderful production.
