Charlotte, NC – Miriam Melvin, a two-time Emmy Award-winning news producer for the Triangle’s #1 Noon newscast at WRAL-TV, is one of the featured panelists at the 2020 Media Girls On Tour Series – powered by Media Girls Network and Broadcasting Beauty PR. Miriam, a Chicago native, arrived in Raleigh in 2001 with dreams of making a positive impact on the City of Oaks. While earning her degree from Northern Illinois University, Miriam she completed two internships at WBBM, the CBS-affiliate in Chicago. Shortly after graduation, Miriam’s ambition and talents were recognized by the ABC-affiliate in Chicago.
Whether assisting on the news desk or shadowing reporters in the field, wherever Miriam was needed, she was there. After 2 years of learning the ropes, she became an Associate Producer at WDAF-TV, the FOX-affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri. After a three-year stint in K.C., she landed in the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham NC area) as a Morning Producer at WRAL-TV 5. She played a role in developing the Fox 50 Morning News at 7 am – 8 am. Miriam also served as producer for the #1 rated 5 pm – 6:30 pm newscast as well as 10 pm on Fox 50.
