Durham Community King Events: “Unfinished Business – Eliminating Racism & Advancing Equity”

DURHAM, NC – The Durham Community Martin Luther King, Jr. Steering Committee, Inc. will hold its 2021 King Holiday Celebration events through January 19, 2021. With the theme “Unfinished Business – Eliminating Racism & Advancing Equity,” the Committee will honor the life, service, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

All events are virtual, free, and open to the public.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. devoted his life to equality, social justice, economic advancement, and opportunity for all. As a community, in the midst of a pandemic, one could use Dr. King’s example as a guide in addressing the most critical issues through collaborative action to create, strengthen and sustain opportunities for others to promote economic opportunity and ensure proper investment in our youth to promote long-term success.

It is the responsibility of all to work to improve our community for the betterment of all citizens which includes continuing the unfinished business of eliminating racism, injustice, and inequality where it exists in policies or practices to advance equity.

The work of the Durham Community Martin Luther King, Jr. Steering Committee, Inc. depends exclusively on the support of individuals, faith & civic organizations, businesses, corporations, and foundations.
