[VIDEO] Coach K Discusses Winning Without Postseason Experience

Tuesday afternoon, head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils opened their 2021 ACC Tournament taking down the Boston College Eagles 86-51. The Blue Devils are no stranger to playing in the Greensboro Coliseum. However, this year was different than most, as the Blue Devils came in with the number 10 seed in the tournament, which is their lowest seed in the history of the tournament.

In order for Duke to bring their name into light after a very rough season, it will be important for them to win almost 5 out of five games but as coach K mentioned in the post-game conference they must take it easy and “one day at a time”.

This tournament was a chance for the Blue Devils to start a new and process the mistakes made in the past. Coach K’s starting lineup came out operating on all cylinders early offensively and the numbers spoke for themselves. Going 7-16 from behind the arc made a big difference in the first half of the game. Going into halftime with 41 points.

Tuesday night viewers saw something completely different than they are used to from the blue devils playing 10 from the bench allowing several freshmen to make their big debut.

Steward, Williams, and freshman Jeremy Roach combined for 27 of Duke’s 41 points in the first half. Stewart scored 13 points with three of Duke’s eight three-pointers and Williams was 5-6 from the field with 11 points.

Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski raved about the freshman’s efforts “Excitement that is the main thing…it’s neat to see for this 74-year-old guy especially after the loss of three games.. now they have played one and they get the chance to play another and hopefully they can do that”.

The Blue Devils advance to play the 7th seeded Louisville Cardinals on Wednesday looking to redeem themselves after the two losses they took from the Cardinals prior to the tournament. Coach K and his Blue Devils are excited to continue their journey.
