This New Chicken and French Toast Recipe is Amazing!

This week’s encore episode of ‘Just Eats’ with Chef JJ was one of his better episodes as they dove into one of my favorite meals, chicken and waffles, but with a twist!

Publishing his award-winning first cookbook in spring 2018, JJ Johnson, better known as “Chef JJ,” shows us his award-winning cooking styles weekly on CleoTV Saturdays at 9 pm. His signature style combines culturally relevant ingredients from West Africa and Asia to the Americas.

Fried Chicken and Deep Dish French Toast

This week’s encore episode included Chicken and Deep Dish French Toast, which started the trend of breakfast and dinner combos in the 1920s in New York City. This dish looks so amazing I would have to choose it as one of my favorites simply because I’m a fan of Chicken and Waffles. The French Toast is such a delectable item I feel it is a great combination to switch it up to.

This could be a big deal when it comes to brunch items because I know several people who prefer French toast as opposed to waffles or pancakes. Plus add the fact that chicken and bread is already a well-known combination and this could definitely be a new hit in the next year or so around the country.

Chef JJ made sure to mention that the key to making great fried chicken is to “fry it until it floats.” After about 10-12 minutes of frying, The New York-native pulled out some of the best golden fried chicken. The breading looked perfectly even and just everything about it looked amazing.

Sticky BBQ Ribs

The next dish was Sticky BBQ Ribs and Mashed Sweet Potato which is a very different combination. Being such a big fan of yams, the mashed sweet potato can be a quick dinner item for family or friends. Chef JJ mentioned that one of his secrets to making a good barbeque sauce is adding in peanut butter…yeah, peanut butter. I think that’s a little crazy but the final product surely did look good. I would advise you to skip the peanut butter if you’re allergic obviously, but otherwise, this is definitely a dish that you need to add to your cookbook or weekly recipes.
