SAU Falcons Set to Host Fayetteville State This Upcoming Saturday

RALEIGH NC – The SAU Falcons (0-5) take their focus on the Fayetteville State Broncos (5-1) as they will host them on Saturday afternoon for Pink Day and Student Life Day. It has not been the start that coach David Bowser and the rest of his staff have hoped, but this would be the perfect time to respond and put together a respectable performance.

The Falcons have been outscored 154-28 in 2021 and 62-7 in the past two contests where Livingstone College and Winston-Salem State defeated them. However, as they say, any given Sunday, but in this case, it will be any given Saturday.

The Raliegh faithful should be there to support their Falcons regardless of the record due to the many events going on for the game. The goal is that home advantage will kick in and at least push the Falcons to compete against a tough Broncos squad that has won their last four games. The Broncos are outscoring their opponents at an impressive rate by a score of 212-93 and are averaging about 35 points a game. Their balanced offensive attack led by QB K’Hari Lane has created them to average 242 yards in the air and 162 yards on the ground to begin the campaign.

If the Falcons want to have a shot at committing the upset, it is clear that they need to put more points on the board to take the pressure off a defense which seems to be stuck on the field for way too long. They average just around 8 points a game on the offensive side while surrendering 42 points a game on defense. In addition, they will need to show discipline, having committed 14 penalties thus far, and the Falcons cannot afford to move backward when trying to create successful drives. This is a game you must put together some productive drives and take advantage of the time of possession.

In order to dominate the clock, the run game will have to be established early and often, and that is where RB Keyshown Lindsey comes in to play. The 6 footer is currently the Falcons leading rusher, racking up 33 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. Suppose they can have some success on the ground, it could very well allow the Falcons to get creative and open up the play-action for a team that has had a carousel of QB’s rotate in with D’Ontre Gilliard, Donovan Brewington, and Christopher Perkins.

Kickoff is expected to be set for 1:00 pm on Saturday at George Williams Athletic Complex. The Falcons try to avoid dropping another game and would love nothing more to record their first victory of the season, but it will not be an easy task.
