Legacy Tours LLC: Louis James Is Accepting The ‘Passing Of The Torch’
DURHAM, NC – Louis James is the proud owner of Legacy Tours, LLC, a charter bus company based out of Durham, NC. James and his three female drivers provide transportation services to almost anywhere in the country. They keep the motto “Now, where would you like to go?”
Passing Of The Torch
Legacy Tours’ iconic logo is a torch. The idea of the “passing of the torch” comes from James’ greatest inspiration, his late father, William Louis Parker. Most knew him as “Pete.” James left his home in Brooklyn, New York after the passing of his father. Later, he would join his mother in Durham. He began driving buses professionally at age 19 as a way to follow in Pete’s footsteps. As a result, James created Legacy Tours in June 2019. The company caters to a wide variety of clients ranging from sports teams and wedding parties to family reunions and church groups.
James prides himself on creating a comfortable and customizable experience for all of his guests. He and his drivers will often play music for travelers and even video record sites on their trips for those who are unable to leave their houses. “There’s nothing extra,” says James. “I treat my guests the way I want my family to be treated. People love it.” He seldom turns down any group that comes his way. Customers are able to book trips and get quote estimates through the company’s official website, direct phone calls, and even social media. “I’ve had some people even just message me on Facebook! We will take people however they come.”
COVID-19
James had to bring his services to a halt in March 2020. “COVID stopped us in our tracks,” he says. Therefore, he refunded all of his customers that had future trips lined up. Legacy Tours began reaching out to a few casino groups towards the end of 2020. Bus capacity was limited to 19-20 guests and digital thermometers were kept on hand. Today, group sizes are determined based on what clients are comfortable with. Everyone is required to wear a mask while traveling about the buses. Temperature checks are required for both drivers and passengers.
The Future of Legacy Tours
Plans for expansion are already underway for Legacy Tours. James aims to purchase 50 acres for his company in the coming months. He sees the business, the buses, and his future home on an estate one day. “I don’t have a limit to where we can go,” he says. “I’d love to see us grow as big as we can.”

James believes he will continue to be blessed by keeping God in his heart. Likewise, staying genuine and keeping his father’s dream alive are the tools he uses to empower people. “I love the industry. It’s in my veins,” he says.
