Raleigh Retro Gamers Invades The Bull City on July 31

Gamers in the Triangle.

Are you ready to make some nice gaming pickups?? To meet individuals who share the same passion for gaming? Or to test your knowledge on retro gaming trivia??

Well, Sunday, July 31st at the Durham Food Hall on 530 Foster Street will have all that ready for you! The event will last from 1-4 PM with free admission.

There will be vendors that will be selling, buying, and also stations for playing at the event. There will not only be retro and modern video games, there will be toys, board games, and other geek merchandise that will be on sale.

All ages are welcome and if you want to check out the Raleigh Retro Gamers website, it is www.raleighretrogamers.com, or go on their Facebook and Instagram pages.

Raleigh native Jeff Thomas, who runs Raleigh Retro Gamers has a massive video game collection co-founded the group with Evan Welty back in 2018, due to allowing local gamers in the Triangle to share similar interests. “Video Vic” states, “It’s a great group and I always have fun coming to the meetups.” He added, “Within the past couple of years, video game collecting has turned the corner of where baseball cards were for our parents. I don’t think that there’s any stopping that since it’s now a part of our culture.” Thomas also added, “There’s not really a ceiling in Retro Game collecting and it’ll continue to grow. There are people who have been doing this for a long time and the value keeps going up! It’ll keep growing by attracting new collectors!”

They have been doing this once a month prior to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. For the past year, they started doing meetups outside of local stores such as Play-N-Trade in Garner, then gradually entering into the local establishments such as Moore Square Park in Downtown Raleigh, Bombshell Beer Company in Holly Springs, Big Boss, and Compass Rose Breweries in Raleigh.

So, grab your friends and meet new people to get your game on July 31st at the Durham Food Hall from 1-4 PM.
