DURHAM, NC – Five-time Grammy Award-Winning artist and serial entrepreneur CeeLo Green will share his career journey with North Carolina Central University (NCCU) at the Leadership in Entertainment and the Arts Program (L.E.A.P.) Talk Symposium at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 29. The event, free and open to the public, will take place in the NCCU Student Center at 500 Nelson St.

Known for his versatility, CeeLo Green’s music career began with the groundbreaking southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob. In 1995, Goodie Mob released their first album, “Soul Food,” pioneering them to the top of the emerging southern rap scene. The group then released two more albums, “Still Standing” (1998) and “World Party” (1999). After Green’s success with Goodie Mob, he skyrocketed to international fame with Gnarls Barkley and released the 2006 hit “Crazy,” which reached No. 1 in various singles charts worldwide. Following Gnarls Barkley, his solo success continued with the 2010 album “The Lady Killer,” featuring the hit single “Forget You.”

As a television personality and actor, Green completed four seasons as a coach on NBC’s hit show “The Voice,” alongside Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. He was the voice of ‘Murray the Mummy’ in the Sony animated film “Hotel Transylvania” (2012) and ‘Shuggie the Panda’ in “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” on Disney+

Green also founded the non-profit organization GreenHouse Foundation, which aims to educate, inspire, and empower children to become responsible stewards of their environment, communities, and future.

Created by NCCU alumnus and Grammy and Stellar Award-nominated artist Marcus Anderson, L.E.A.P. provides exclusive behind-the-scenes perspectives to NCCU students that help prepare them for a career in the entertainment industry. The program is supported by the NCCU Office of Student Engagement and Leadership.
