WGU Promotes Philyaw-Rogers To Partner Solutions Executive, Transfer Engagement

DURHAM, NC Western Governors University, an accredited online university with more than 178,000 students nationwide, has announced that Tenita Philyaw-Rogers has been promoted from senior strategic partnerships manager (SPM) to partner executive, transfer engagement. Based in North Carolina, Philyaw-Rogers will now take on an expanded national role in coordinating transfer agreements and engagement between WGU and its partner community colleges.

As a senior strategic partnership manager, Philyaw-Rogers focused on community college partnership signing, growth and development for the past four years. In this role, she oversaw the engagement of 176 institutions in the Southeast region and signed partnerships with 21 North Carolina community colleges.

In FY23, Philyaw-Rogers was recognized as the top community college SPM, where she signed 22 new partnerships in a single year, including the entire Technical College System of Georgia. She has also led WGU’s all-region engagement with Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society for community colleges.

Philyaw-Rogers has more than 27 years of experience in higher education. Prior to joining WGU, she served as director of transfer articulation for the University of North Carolina System and director of transfer services for North Carolina Central University. She was also appointed to the North Carolina Community College Advising Board and serves on seven local and national advisory boards, and committees focused on community college and higher education. Philyaw-Rogers earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in American history from North Carolina State University and her Master of Arts degree in American history with a minor in education from North Carolina Central University.
