Durham Links Present Shades of Green “Goes Red” Fashion Show And Luncheon 2024

The Durham (NC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated annual charity fundraising event will bring back its renowned Vendor Lounge, providing fashion shopping opportunities for attendees.

DURHAM, NC — On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Durham (NC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated will host its 9th annual charity fundraising event at the Durham Convention Center. More than 700 women will attend the sold-out Shades Of Green Fashion Show and Luncheon, the Chapter’s signature event for fashion and fun. In addition, the event will bring back its renowned Vendor Lounge, providing fashion shopping opportunities for attendees.

The theme “Goes Red” references the importance of heart health and will feature a booth to recognize Elaine Hart-Brothers, MD, and her 40+ years of service to the Durham community. Dr. Hart-Brothers is a member of the Durham (NC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated and co-founder of the Community Health Coalition. The Hart-Brothers Heart Booth will include Dr. Monique Anderson Starks, a cardiologist who will speak to attendees on health issues, perform blood pressure checks, and provide education on CPR and other heart and mental health topics. Alliance Health, Benniegirl, and the Community Health Coalition are supporting partners for the Hart-Brothers Heart Booth.

Over the years, funds from the charity event have contributed to several scholarship programs, including the Chapter’s special endowment at North Carolina Central University. Other programs and organizations that have received contributions are Families Moving Forward, STEM Program, LEAP Seminar Series, Merrick Washington Braille Magazine, Special Mentoring Programs, Summer Camp IniWaWves, Durham Crisis Response Center, Nasher Museum, Durham Police AthleWc League, and Global Scholars Academy.
