Law’s Local Predictions 10/22
We are coming down the stretch of this year’s football season. We have seen some up’s, down’s, injuries, and football in a hurricane. With the way that everything has gone this season, it is getting harder and harder to predict what might actually take place. Let’s take a look at this week’s slate of games:
North Carolina State (4-2, 1-1 ACC) @ #7 Louisville (5-1, 3-1 ACC)
NC State travels to Louisville to face a very difficult challenge. The Wolfpack are coming off of a very disappointing loss at Clemson in overtime. The game could have been won on a Kyle Bambard field goal, but an unfortunate miss and a late game interception thrown by Ryan Finley led to the first conference loss by the Raleigh school this season. Louisville just struggled at home against Duke, I do not see the Cardinals having another low scoring game at home. I would expect Louisville’s Heisman candidate, Lamar Jackson, to have a great game running and passing.
Louisville wins 41-23.
North Carolina Central (5-2, 4-0 MEAC) @ Morgan State (2-3, 2-1 MEAC)
After a big win for homecoming last weekend, The Eagles find theirselves right back on the road to face Morgan State. Head coach Jerry Mack has his team looking very promising coming down the stretch of the season. Coach Mack told me that their success lies in their “everyday grind.” That everyday grind has really changed the mentality of the program, so I would expect NCCU to dominate this weekend.
North Carolina Central wins 38-6.
North Carolina (5-2, 3-1 ACC) @ Virginia (2-4, 1-1 ACC)
UNC is coming off of an upset of Miami in Florida last week. Actually, the Tar Heels are 2-0 on the road in true away games. It also helps that those two teams were #12 Florida State and #16 Miami. With the experience of being the road warriors and getting the job done while away from Chapel Hill, I would expect the Heels to take care of business. UNC is 11-1 in their last 12 conference games dating back to last season, so there is no doubt that head coach Larry Fedora will have this team ready to battle come Saturday. Virginia’s defense has a strong secondary and Carolina lost a big receiver last week in Mack Hollins, but that should not effect anything that UNC will try to execute this weekend.
North Carolina wins 30-14.
Saint Augustine’s (2-5, 2-2 CIAA) vs Fayetteville State (2-5, 2-2 CIAA)
St. Aug is looking to bounce back after a rough loss to Winston-Salem State. The Falcons are looking to celebrate their homecoming with a win over conference foe Fayettevile State this Saturday. Each team is 2-2 in the conference, I would expect this game to come down to the wire.
