Cozzman’s Throwback Jam: “U Will Know” by Black Men United
What would it be like if you could have a bunch of talented artists to collaborate in one song?
Black Men United featured the studded all-star lineup of Tevin Campbell, Gerald LeVert, R. Kelly, Portrait, Al B. Sure!, D’Angelo, a young Usher Raymond, H-Town, Aaron Hall, and let’s not forget about Lenny Kravitz on the guitar, representing the most celebrated R&B artists from the 1980s and 1990s. They teamed up on the classic hit “U Will Know.” The song was featured on Jason’s Lyric Soundtrack.
“U Will Know” by Black Men United is an excellent song for young black males. It represents unity. We need to stick together, even in tough times. The following lyrics stand out to me:
Your dreams ain’t easy
[You just stick by your plan] You just stick by your plan
[Go from boys to men] Go from boys to men
[You must act like a man] You gotta act like a man
[When it gets hard, y’all] When it gets hard, y’all
[You just grab what you know] Got what you know
[Stand up tall and don’t you fall] And my background sing
Young brothers can relate to this by using these lyrics as a reminder that no matter what life throws at you, you have to keep pushing and striving to become the best person that you can be. The “You gotta act like a man” part really stands out to me, mainly due to my old boss at one of my former jobs, Mr. Tony, who encourages me, and many young brothers, to man up!
We must continue to work hard, think positive and go forward. Above all, when you listen to this song, it should give you plenty of encouragement!
In conclusion, young single moms and dads should play this around their young sons daily, and whenever they face trials and tribulations! I promise; you won’t be disappointed in this classic!
