Cyrus Fagan Goes From FSU Transfer to Key Asset for the Wolfpack
RALEIGH NC – Cyrus Fagan, a former FSU transfer who played 30 games with the Seminoles, has instantly become a valuable piece to the Wolfpack defense. In his debut with the Pack versus USF, the safety tallied up 7 total tackles while recording an interception. Fagan has two years remaining of eligibility and should continue to be productive due to his athleticism, nose for the ball, and contagious confidence.
Fagan had nothing but great things to say to the media regarding the NC State program and is grateful to get another opportunity to showcase his skillset.
“Honestly, I am not going to lie. I love it here at NC State. Just how the coaches treat you and how your teammates work with you, it has been nothing but great. I am going to give it my all for this place. It is in my blood. One Pack one goal I live by that, and just to know somebody gave me another opportunity, I can not mess it up. I just got to keep my head down and stay focused.”
The Florida native will look to carry the same mindset he had from last week into this week as the Pack travels to Mississippi State on Saturday. Mike Leach, the head coach for the Bulldogs, is known to run aggressive offenses that will throw the ball up to 50 times a game. In addition, the secondary of the Pack will have their hands full after a stunning performance in week 1 and will need to be prepared to be asked upon a lot.
Fagan told reporters that the secondary knows it is on them and that they must do their jobs by stopping this high-powered offense if they want to come out victorious.
“As a DB, you need to have great eyes, so we have been preaching that and making sure we are looking at the right plays, area of formations, and splits. We have to play fast and physical and together, stuff we preach every day. It is on us as a secondary, and we know that, and we got nothing to do but to do it” said Fagan.
When talking to the media, Fagan’s confidence speaks volumes individually as a player and about the spirit that breeds in this Wolfpack locker room. This Pack defensive unit that has already shown massive improvement will need to play fast and physically if they want to make an impact against a formidable SEC opponent.
