Bagley, Duval Power Duke Past Furman 92-63
DURHAM, NC – Duke used a 14-2 run in the first half to open the Phil Knight Invitational with a 92-63 victory in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
This begins the first of four games in five days for the Blue Devils, who will travel to Portland, Oregon for the remainder of the tournament. The trip will be roughly 5,680 miles roundtrip for Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s team.

After a Trevon Duval layup on the other end for the Blue Devils, Furman would take the 5-4 lead on an Andrew Brown three-pointer.
The game would go back and forth for the first part of the first half. Duke had issues keeping the Paladin guards from getting to the middle of the paint.
A puzzled Coach K mentioned after the game that Furman seemed more of a “right-handed team,” yet that he felt that his team was forcing the Paladin players to drive to their right hand on several occasions.
After a Javin DeLaurier steal and huge dunk on the fast break, Marques Bolden had an emphatic block on a Paladin layup attempt and finished the play on the other end of the court with a Trent Jr three-pointer
Duke used a 10-0 run part of a 14-2 run (five consecutive field goals) over a span of four minutes to finish the half hitting 11 of their last 13 field goals to head in to halftime with a 49-31 advantage.
Marvin Bagley III was a huge part of that run, scoring 11 of Duke’s 13 points at one stretch of the first half. He would finish with 24 points and eight rebounds.
Coming out of halftime, Trent Jr steal leads to Grayson Allen dunk. Duval would follow with a short jumper to give Duke the 53-31 lead. Duval added 18 points and four assist to the stat sheet.
Furman would get three points back on a deep Devin Sibley shot. 53-34
Trent Jr layup off an Allen steal would bring the Duke lead back to 21 with a score of 55-34. Grayson Allen finished the game with five points and a team-high six assists.
Duke would not look back in the second half, as they cruise to their first win of the PK80 tournament 92-63
